A Message from Chuck Estok, the Mayor's Brother

This is the body of the message that I received. I have added, in IN RED, a few corrections and additions only for the sake of clarity. My apology in advance for taking this liberty. My comments will be added as a "COMMENT”. The letter follows.

Subject: “Take A Look At This”

Take a look at a few. You should of showed up there at court and saved the coffee shop rumors.

Willie Ritchie, mother of Suedell Manns, said her daughter (who is Suedell Manns and who is confined to a nursing home) couldn’t read or write, yet Suedell Manns' application and actual ballot bears a signature better than mine. Footnote: Marlene Chambers (wife of candidate Rick Chambers) signed said application for absentee ballot, under penalties of perjury, that she witnessed Suedell Manns sign said application. How does this square?

Mike Summey stated he did not sign any application or ballot in election because he lives in Culver, Indiana and did not vote. Jimmy Summey said he signed his brother Mike’s application for an absentee ballot because Marlene Chambers brought the application to his house and said that he could sign brother Mike’s name to the application and he would not get in any trouble. We still don't know who signed the "actual ballot" because it doesn't match the application signature that Jimmy forged or Mike Summey or Jimmy Summey's signature and Jimmy said he did not ever see the actual ballot. ?

Kenneth VanAsdall, who lives in Ober, Indiana, stated that he got his application from his father Jeff VanAsdall and Jeff Vanasdal stated Marlene Chambers gave him the application, and I believe Jeff stated that Marlene Chambers said that his son Kenneth could vote even if he lived outside the city limits.

Charlie Barnett stated he stated he lived in Walkerton and that he got his application from Rick Chambers father Buzz who he has worked with (both Rick and his father) for years.

Chris McFarland said that she received her application to vote absentee from Marlene Chambers who brought it to her house and that Marlene also made a point to inform her not to forget that her brother Bobbie worked for Rick's father Buzz. Chris said she felt bribed.

First: Regarding Suedell Manns’ Ballot Application and Ballot.

1. You had the opportunity to challenge Suedell Manns’ ballot during the Absentee Ballot process.
2. If there was a criminal complaint, that should be made to the police and investigated by the Prosecuting Attorney.
3. Therefore: We can’t say how this squares. This allegation hasn’t been properly handled.
4. And what, pray tell, did the Election Board do wrong?

Second: Regarding Mike Summey and Jimmy Summey.

Again, the proper way is challenge the ballot. Again, the proper way is file a criminal complaint. Let the police and prosecutor find out whom, if anybody, is telling a lie. In any case there is clear motive for the Summey’s to be lying. And maybe Jimmy voted for you. And again what, pray tell, did the Election Board do wrong?

Thirdly. Regarding Kenneth VanAsdall and Jeff VanAsdall:

AND Regarding Charlie Barnett:

AND Regarding Chris McFarland:

Wow! Your argument ran out of fuel mighty quickly. These three complaints sound like absolutely nothing but "He said. She said." What law was broken here?

You MAYBE have 2 complaints both unproven and untested. This is not a rational basis for challenging an election, suing the Election Board, and disrupting the lives of 50 voters.

I would agree that none of this warrants a lawsuit, but like Marty said in court. They are just on a fishing trip. What a Lawyer, it makes you wonder when Denny has to hire a second attorney to represent him in this matter.

I am following this chain of events with amazement that all of this cost to taxpayers centers on one person's quest to continue to live off the public dole. Talk about double-dipping! I've read your previous posts, and like many others, must wonder what's in it for Mr. Estok that he would go to all of this trouble to keep his adminstrative position? There has to be something much larger at stake the the adminstrative salary that comes with leading a city of somewhere less than 4,000 citizens (please correct me if I am wrong with my figure). After this stunt, I would think Mayor Estok would do well to get two-thirds of the votes he received the first time. He must be much smarter than everyone else to take such a risk.

Just to clarify, is this letter from the mayor's brother rather than the candidate himelf?

I can't wait until next week. I've never been a fan of soap operas, but this is entertainment at its finest.

Dennis Estok is the Mayor of Knox and plaintiff in the lawsuit.
Chuck Estok is his brother. I do not think that Chuck Estok is a party to the lawsuit.

Shocked in Plymouth, I don't think that you fully understand small town America if you think there MUST be more at stake than an administrative salary. Of course there is the jobs, and minor patronage, small possible kickbacks, etc. But, in my opinion, the underlying reason for all this is a desire to be Mayor of the City, to be elected leader by your neighbors. It is prestige and vindication of worth. All that being said, money is hard to come by here in Knox and the salary is an important element..

Is it just me, or does Chuck Estok appear smarter when he doesn't speak?
